I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. Romans 1:16

I’m not a showbiz type of person. But I know Inday Badiday. When I was young, my mom was an avid showbiz fan, that’s why I could still remember her watching Inday Badiday’s showbiz oriented talk shows where I learned the terms “Careful, careful!” and “We will be right back, promise’.
She died Friday, September 26, of brain stroke. Before her death, I read about her column from the Inquirer she entitled
“My favorite book”. I was amazed of the peace she had those times where she was helplessly sick. The peace that can only be explained by a trust relationship with somebody more powerful than anything and anybody in the world.
See you later, Ate Ludz!

Everyday, I receive spam emails. But it can’t be more irritating than this. We just setup a support email where our clients can send their inquiries. In return, it is posted in our site so that anyone from the team can repond.
But here’s the deal: We received the first spam today. “Wan’t to have a bigger penis?” Sorry for the term, but just imagine this message getting seen on our entire network. And imagine receiving 100 of these everyday. We wouldn’t know what’s a legit support inquiry and what is not!
There’re a lot of “Anti-Spam advocacy” etc. etc. on the web. But we’re still waiting for some results.

Yesterday, I was trying to find for a good open source customer support ticketing system to be implemented for our company. I found a perl-based Request Tracker by Best Practical Solutions. Since I was able to implement Movable Type for this blog system, I was thinking, working with perl (installations) isn’t that bad at all. And so I went.
Twelve hours! Sad part, I was an inch close to finishing it when I found out that one perl module (Mason) would keep on crashing under Apache. Is it my being a PHP-guy and non-Perl advocate? Or is this software really created with a “built in” hard installation process so you can sign up for Best Practical’s instalation service that will cost you $200/hour, minimum of 4 hours = $800!
At the end of my tiring and frustrating day, I tried to search for a PHP alternative from ScriptSearch.com. I found this PHP-based support ticketing, open-source script called osTicket. Would you believe I was able to install it for 5 minutes!? It may not be as powerful as Request Tracker, but hey, it’s expandable! It would be a great job to add functionalities to this already good software.
And then, our new support system . . .
