If you’re a blogger, uses WordPress and is plagued by thousands of spam everyday, this post is for you.
These spam comment posts are coming from spambots, some program like “Link Dump”. I’ve tried several anti-spam procedures but unsuccessful. I never thought that the solution is too simple. LisaS’s post at WordPress Forum suggests a simple hack.
Change the name of your wp-comments-post.php to something else – - I changed mine to something like: stopspam-post.php.
Then find your wp-comments.php file. Look for this line:
<form action="<?php echo $siteurl; ?>/wp-comments-post.php" method="post" id="commentform">
And change the wp-commens-post.php to the file that you renamed it to.
For example, since I renamed my wp-comments-post.php to stopspam-post.php — that line in the wp-comments.php now looks like this:
<form action="<?php echo $siteurl; ?>/stopspam-post.php" method="post" id="commentform">
This principle can be applied to popular blog software like Movable type, too, I think. The trick is to trick the spambots. :) It worked for me.

Google has invaded your web searching. Now, how about your desktop searching?
If you’re tired of waiting for your built in Windows file search program, here comes Google to the rescue! Google is beta testing Google Desktop, a Google (read: faster) way of searching your files — your email, ms office (word, powerpoint, excel, etc.), chat conversations, visited sites.
Now, that’s another reason why I’m a googler.

While searching for a WAP enabler for WordPress, I stumbled upon this blog entry. And here’s a good news for those who rely on Gmail for most of their emailing life. While on the road, you can actually check your emails thru WAP. There’s a small PHP script that has to be uploaded to a web server. Now, that’s clever.

When I signed up for Friendster some half a year ago, my purpose was to check the technology behind the current social networking fad. As I posted here, I was happy to have seen Friendster run under PHP from previous JSP. But, that when done by a Friendster engineer, termination papers was received. Joyce Park, a.k.a Troutgirl, has been fired by Friendster for blogging. Read for yourself if she did say anything that might harm Friendster. The irony: Friendster earns its living by asking you to post your personal information. Huh? “You can Friendster but you can’t blog!”
I cancelled my Friendster account today to join the blogging community’s protest against this company. Anyway, I agree with Brownpau that Friendster “were becoming just another layer of superficial communication which I was doing better without.”
