Hi fellow blogger!

Let me personally invite you to a special blogger event that I’m hoping to pull off next week, May 16, 2010, Sunday.

So, here’s the thing: I’m part of the launching team of a new church called LifeChurch Makati. It’s a new kind of church because not only its a non-denominational, non-sectarian organization, the method that’s going to be used is different from your typical Sunday church. For one, the teaching part will come directly from our partner church in the US, LifeChurch.tv on video. Of course, you’ll have a live worship band, only the worship will be “a notch higher”.

It’s really a different Sunday experience. That’s the reason why we want to have as much people to experience it, evaluate and share the word out. That’s why I’m inviting you.

I’m a blogger myself and I know how bloggers think. We want to share our good, even bad experiences to our audience through our blogs. I’m thinking that if you can heed to my invitation, you can experience this event and write about it in your blogs.

Some possible questions that you may have:

1. WHAT’S IT FOR ME?

The experience, and FREE LUNCH! :D To show gratitude for you covering the event, there will be a lunch especially for bloggers who covered the event. This is also going to be a great time for us to know each other and see the real face behind the avatar :D That will happen at Max’s Restaurant, Ground Floor of Glorietta 3 right after the event.

2. I’M A ROMAN CATHOLIC. CAN I ALSO JOIN?

Of course! The church is not denomination/”religion” specific. Anyone can come.

3. WHAT DO I BRING?

You can bring your cameras if you want. We just request that you turn of the flash during the event itself (which, I know you know, is a standard procedure.)

4. I DON’T REALLY HAVE A BLOG. I JUST USE TWITTER/FACEBOOK.

Twitter is micro-blogging. So, you’re a blogger :D You’re also invited.

This Sunday event happens right after the national election. I know we’re all tired of the same things we hear and see for the past 3 months. So this is the best time to refresh, hear a new and inspiring thing, and write about something other than politics :D So, I’d like to invite you to come. And pass on this link to other bloggers you know.

Click the “Attending” button, and on the event itself, please tell the people manning the welcome table that you’re a blogger and attending the blogger event. If you have other questions, you can ask here.

Thank you for reading :D

Confirm your attendance here at the Facebook event page.

Date: Sunday, May 16, 2010
Time: 10:30am – 12:30pm
Location: Glorietta 4, Cinema 4
City/Town: Makati, Philippines

It’s an action film. Not great, as in “Borne…” great. But behind the action scenes, the passion for The Book is very evident.

Makes me think: we’re a blessed generation. We have hundreds of Bible versions with millions of copies in the market. And, through LifeChurch.tv (were LifeChurch Makati is networked), considered as the most innovative church in the US — and in my opinion the most generous — they have made The Bible even more accessible — for free! — through YouVersion.com. Now you can read the Bible through the internet or through your phones.

Very accessible more than ever. But where is our Bibles today? In the altars? In your bags — to protect you from “harms and dangers?”

You will never experience the power of the Book if you’re not going to be passionate about reading it and putting it in your hearts. It has changed my life, it has inspired me to walk with God and it has guided me through difficult situations in life. My experience is identical with millions who decided to make the Bible part of their lives.

And you can experience this, too. Grab your Bible and start reading it. If you don’t have one, go ahead and go to YouVersion.com, choose a version you’re most comfortable with and start reading online.

Don’t wait for the time when the Bible is nowhere to be found.

Months ago, I had a long post about the subject of authenticity on the internet. This topic has once again become relevant.

- an OFW allegedly posted an insensitive post on Facebook in the midst of the Ondoy tragedy. Out of anger, “she” was mugged virtually. It was just alright, I guess, if Jacqueline Bermejo is not a real person. But she is. And the issue tainted her dignity. Here’s her official statement.

- this one is on the other side of the spectrum. Mickey Arroyo, son of the president, was allegedly “caught on cam” to have been buying alcohol in the middle of the typhoon. Very insensitive they said. But he denied that that that picture was taken during that time. So, the “poor guy”, being feasted on Facebook, wants to censor the use of these social networks altogether as if we’re China or Afganistan. I’d like to see him head the censorship group and see how he accomplishes that.

- because of the tragedy, a lot has reportedly using fake “donation centers” and asking for Paypal donations. Will you believe these right away out of your genuine compassion?

The internet can either make you or break you. Be wise. Be useful.

DON’T believe everything you see on the internet. Rule no. 1.

First of all, let me state where I am as a Filipino on this issue: Martin Nievera did really well in singing our National Anthem during the Paquiao-Hatton fight in Las Vegas, Nevada. As a Filipino, seeing him sing the anthem with class, with passion and with energy — it makes me proud.

The guy is under tremendous pressure right now as some think he did our anthem injustice when he created an arrangement that is, according them, against what the law prescribed.

Well, it’s just me, but I simply think that we all need to grow up.

Now, having said that, I don’t think Martin needs to make an alibi for doing his choice of arrangement. But in today’s column at Philippine Star, he does seem to make one. This time, he said, it was Robin, his eldest son’s mistake. Or something like that. Oh, well, not really blaming his kid. Nonetheless, I don’t think it’s really needed.

In my opinion, let’s just leave the guy alone. He kicked Sir Tom Jones’ ass during that night. It’s enough for me.

While conceptualizing for a message I will deliver at Grace Place on May 17 for our “In the Grip of Grace” series, I reviewed a pinoy hip hop song “Gusto kong bumaet” by hip hop group Death Threat. I’m not the hip hop type, but because of it’s popularity, the song does ring in my head.

I’m amazed with the profoundness of the lyrics. These guys are theologians in their own rights. Read the partial lyrics below, then read Romans 7.

Gusto kong bumait pero hindi ko magawa
Kaya ngayo’y pumapatak ang aking mga luha
Nagsi-sisi
Tahimik ako’y nako-konsyensa
Sa mata ng ama
Ako’y isang itim na tupa
Ang kasalanan
Lagi ko ng iniiwasan
Pero di sya naalis
Ayaw nya kong lubayan
Bakit kaya ako laging sumasabit
Paulit-ulit
Nangu-ngulit
Parating nagiinit

O TUKSO LAYUAN MO AKO KAPAG NANDYAN KA AKO’Y

A lot are predicting the worst for 2009. The economy in decline, jobs are going down the drain. In times like these, wisdom such as that of Steve Larsen, veteran CEO and currently co-founder of Krugle is a sure encouragement:

“I think the doom and gloom crowd are getting too much airtime. Look for opportunities. Difficult times are when they’ll most likely occur. When we’re at ‘steady state’ and things are normal, good opportunities are much harder to find with GREAT opportunities nearly impossible. It is during periods of tumult and transition when you can spot things that lead to the greatest returns—if you are alert. So be alert.”

A friend of mine told me he was hired to blog in a network. Hired, as in he is going to be paid for every post he makes. Earning through blogging isnt new to me. But what I know of is to have your blog(s) earn through Adsense. Receiving payments through your posts is something new. I decided to explore the possibilities.

I Googled for keywords. Lo and behold, I found a service called Pay Per Post. Its like a meeting place for bloggers and advertisers. What it does is to have the bloggers review their products and services, post it to their blogs and get paid for doing it. I thought, Ive been doing this for free since I started blogging. Why not get paid for doing it? What I normally do is review some really good websites that I think people can benefit from and blog about it. Being paid to do it is a plus!

Bloggers, why dont you try Pay Per Post. Sign up, open a Paypal account (yeah, if youre a Pinoy, Paypal is finally open here in the country. The fees will be deposited to your paypal account) and start blogging for fun and get paid for doing it.
