About me

Hi, I’m Arnold and Grace by which I stand is my personal weblog. I was raised in a rural area in the province of Nueva Ecija, some 90 kms north of Metro Manila.

I worked as an accountant for 2 years (having graduated bs accountancy here). But I realized that accounting is not my thing. Information Technology is. I’m now leading a small talented team of web designers and programmers.

My joy recently gave birth to a handsome baby boy whom I enjoy talking to even if we speak 2 different languages — ‘baby talk’ and ‘daddy talk’.

I have also decided to follow for the rest of my life this guy. He’s my master and friend. I exist to worship him.

About Joy

Joy, my lovely wife, is a nurse by profession. She has been a company and school nurse in the past. And unlike the common Filipino nursing graduates who would fly somewhere else, most likely in the US, right after graduation, Joy would rather serve her fellow countrymen and be with her family here. Naks!

She ventured into the food business sometime in 2002. There, she discovered her gift of entrepreneurship. She hopes to open another small business of her own in the coming year.

She loves to read — a lot! She also said she’s not a good cook. I disagree. Whenever she cooks, it’s always A+, and you’re invited to taste for yourself!

“Honey, I’ll be home in a few minutes”. :-)

About arnoldgamboa.com

This site is powered by Wordpress with PHP and MySQL as the basic tools. If you have noticed the rotating header images and background color, this trick is inspired by BrownPau — not as grand as his version, though. I simply used PHP to rotate the fetching of different css files which represents each theme.

Why ‘Grace by which I stand’?

“Grace by which I stand” is an adaptation from Keith Green’s song that carries the same title. I’ve been singing that song since college and only until hearing it again a few months ago, about 6 years after my “grace awakening“, I got stunned by the message of the song. The chorus says,

“But nothing lasts, except the grace of God
By which I stand in Jesus
I’m sure that my whole life would waste away,
Except for grace, by which I’m saved.”

Exactly my life’s experience. I am saved by grace, sustained by grace, healed by grace, liberated by grace, and if I fall away, I will be restored by grace. I am growing as a Christian not of my own strength but by grace, I can love back because of grace, and I live only because of God’s grace. All of me exist because of God and his loving-kindness. My friends, my loved ones, the economy, the country may fail me — but the grace of God stays, and I can live with that.

(What is grace?)

This blog is about that daily grace experience. I remember, my early days after my spiritual rebirth carries the mantra “Under Grace”. I’m going back to the same line so I’ll be reminded that what I am, what I got is under God’s grace.
