I can’t help but comment on this news article from Inquirer. My congressman at 4th district of Nueva Ecija made a foolish comment. (Hindi na nadala nung impeachment trial — he was made like an idiot when he tried to debate with younger congressmen like Congressmen Escodero and Cayetano).
He said, the reason why the senate is well-against the charter change is that it’s part of the larger plot of installing Senate President Drillon as acting president if President Arroyo will be impeached. According to him, Vice President Noli de Castro will also be pressured to resign which will make Drillon next in line. He will then call for a snap election.
Cool, intellectual assessment so far. Until he said this:
“As acting President, Drilon the candidate would have the entire executive branch, the Armed Forces and the national police and local government units at his disposal to ensure his victory.”
This threw me out of my seat — literally! Didn’t he know the implication of his statement?
Mr. congressman, my congressman — I guess my dad voted for you — are you saying President Arroyo, whom you defended heaven and earth during last year’s impeachment at the congress, did exactly the same thing in 2004 elections?
