For my weekly date with Joy, we watched the romantic comedy “Close To You“. No, I’m not going to review the film and show the corny side of me. (The movie isn’t corny at all. In fact, we loved it. It delivered what is expected — make you feel good. Who says pinoys can’t make a good film).
On top of making me hold my wife’s hand for the entire 2 hours, the movie also reminded me of my long lost dream hobby — photography. John Lloyd Cruz’ character in the movie is that of a talented photographer who doesn’t believe in what he can do. While I don’t see myself clicking the camera as a full time job nor I believe that I can be a good photographer, the sight of a zoom lens and artistic photos trill me. A trill that has been in me even before the advent of digital photography. Art isn’t my thing — I’m a technical guy. But this is one exception.
My buddies have real cool hobbies — Kuya Enjel has airsoft, Je’s mountain climbing. Why can’t I have photography? Nah. I’m too busy for that. And its really an expensive hobby. If I’ll do photography, I can’t use a Php11k Olympus digicam. I’ll go for at least a Php50k+ Nikon D70s 6.1 Megapixel SLR Digital Camera. Woosh! Did you just hear my mind speak?
On the second thought, could digital photography be cool in heaven? I don’t think so. Maybe I should do it here while I’m here, don’t you think so? Any digital photography crash course suggestions? :D
