On Being a Forum Moderator

Some say, there are two topics you don’t want to engage with, otherwise, you’ll end up debating all day long — religion and politics. Religion is something that a Filipino wound want to talk about, anytime of the day. Politics, oh well, you can see rural folks gathered in a “tindahan” (community store) talking about their bets for the coming election.

But what if both topics are being debated upon at the same time! And what if you’re a moderator in such a discussion in an online forum? An aspirin is what you need at the end of your working day. If you want to get a glimpse of what I’m talking about, visit the Election2004.ph Eddie Villanueva forum board where I am trying my brains out to contain the stubborness of people. People who can’t understand a simple rule : “Only politics are allowed for discussions here, not religion”. Pulitika lang, walang relihiyon! Mahirap bang intindihin yon?!
